Mandarin Vocabulary

Note that some of these vocabulary words are used somewhat differently than they are in English.  It often takes hearing them used in context to get a grasp on the exact meanings.

• gao¹ xing¹ is often translated "excited," but in the sense of "excited to meet you" rather than "excited by the roller coaster" as " xing¹ fen⁴ " would mean.
• fan² nao³ means "constantly bothered" and generally annoyed, not just slightly put off.
• shu¹ fu² can mean either "comfortable" or "physically well", the negative often means ill.
